Be a Part of the Southeast Pollinator Census

The Garden Club of Celebration invites nature lovers of all ages to take part in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census on Saturday, August 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the the beautiful Deerwoods Pollinator Garden.

This interactive, community science event offers residents a chance to slow down, sip lemonade, and become citizen scientists for the day. Participants will be provided with a tally sheet to record the number of pollinators—such as bees and butterflies—that land on the plant of their choice within a 15-minute window.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener, a curious student, or just someone who enjoys the outdoors, the census is a fun and educational way to support conservation. Attendees can choose to stand or are encouraged to bring a comfy chair for a more relaxed experience.

Cold lemonade and sweet treats will be available, courtesy of the Garden Club, making it a perfect summer outing for families, friends, or anyone with a passion for nature.

The data collected will contribute to a regional effort to track and protect pollinator populations across the Southeast.  So come out, enjoy a treat, and help make a difference—one pollinator at a time.

Supporting Audubon Center for Birds of Prey

At our club meeting on March 13 we had an excellent presentation by representative of the Audubon Center for Bird of Prey in Maitland. Club members were so impressed by the presentation that it was decided to support them with donations at our Club Luncheon on April 10. Posted below is their Wish List and everyone attending the luncheon is invited to bring a donation. Click on the image to enlarge.

2023 is a Wrap

The Celebration Garden Club held its annual Holiday Luncheon at Heritage Hall in Celebration on December 13.  We enjoyed an Italian buffet and good social times.  Club members brought towels sets and pillows along with them as donations for a local domestic abuse help center.  The club had a great year in 2013 and we look forward to new projects and field trips in 2024.

Merry Christmas to all. Brad

The Garden Club at the Farmer’s Market

Sunday, October 8, 2023, the Garden Club of Celebration partnered with the Osceola Master Gardeners on Front Street in downtown Celebration. We sold finished plants from Knox, took orders for pine straw and poinsettias. It was fantastic to see many Garden Club members visit our booth. The Garden Club, along with the Master Gardener’s, will be at the Farmer’s Market again on November 5, 2023.

Upcoming Club Events

There will be a Home Improvement Expo at town hall on Saturday September 9 from 9-12.  (The expo is sponsored by Exquisite Lawn Care and Its owner Brian Causey. He will be our first club speaker on September 20) The club has a booth space reserved that Jaime and Jeff Eriks will be managing. We could use some more volunteers to assist them.  We will be distributing brochures advertising the garden club along with brochures promoting the upcoming pine straw and poinsettia sales. The pine straw sale starts September 20 and poinsettias are sold beginning on October 1.
Please contact Jaime at the club email, [email protected], if you can help the club. This is our first event of the year.

We also have a booth reserved at Celebration Farmers Market on Sunday October 8 and November 5. The Market runs from 10-2 at that time of the year. We need volunteers to help here also. There will be 9-11:30 slots and 11:30-2:00 slots. We should have at least two people staffing the booth at each session. The main reason for the booth is to take orders for our poinsettia sale and, on October 8, the pine straw sale.  We will also be promoting membership in the club.  Both market days will find us sharing our booth with the Master Gardeners and you can ask them questions you may have about your plants. And again. Contact Jaime at the club email, [email protected],to sign up for these slots.
