A trip to Island Grove Winery to tour behind the scenes. See bee keeping and taste different honeys and wines. Lunch at the winery.
First field trip is September 16, the day after the first lecture. We will meet on the street alongside Heritage Hall at 9:30 and car pool, or drive separately, to Island Grove winery where owner and Master Gardener George Chen will give us a tour of the honey bee area and tropical fruit gardens. He will show us how he is trying to change the area with a lot of pollinator gardens. Then his assistant will talk more about honey bees(she takes care of most of the bee tending at the winery) and let us taste different honeys made from different flowers. A wine tasting will follow that. They have blueberry wines but now have a lot of other wines from around the world. Then we can do lunch at the winery. Cost is $15.00 for everything except the cost of lunch. Please let Brad know ASAP if you haven’t already as time is short.
