The highlight of Garden Club’s year is the Holiday luncheon and this year was no exception. Over seventy members say down to a delicious  lunch catered by Town Tavern. Each member received a Mason jar filled with the ingredients to make two types of cookies,  Cranberry Oat cookies and Toffee Blondies… here are the recipes.  Many thanks to all Garden Club members who worked so hard to create a special event. 11-16-2016 Jamie Sincage – Pollinators

Jamie Sincage, pollinator expert from Disney’s Conservation Team and Animal Kingdom gave a fascinating and very informative talk to a large group of Club members. He talked about what plants to add to your landscape to attract butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and insects. How to choose the flower shape, numbers of plants, and arrangement are all important factors.

09-21-2016 Tea Craze

Our first meeting of the new Garden Club year was a chance for everyone to get together, talk about their summer exploits and welcome new members to our wonderful Club.  We were delighted to welcome Karen Cannon of Tea Craze LLC, voted best of Orlando Food specialty outlet for the second year running. Karen gave us a very informative talk about the benefits of drinking tea. She described various blends of tea and we tasted three different tas, a black tea, a white tea and a red tea. 2016-04-19 Spring Luncheon

Judith Rankine once again treated the Club to a wonderfully imaginative lunch at Artisan Park Clubhouse. The theme was Starfish and every member received a starfish decorated vase with a white rose. Francesca Wellard, our education advocate presented our scholorship checks to our two recipients. We entertained them with their mothers and their teacher Ms Thuesen. Judi Nelson presented gifts to Debi and Judith who are retiring from the Board this year and to Pam Smith, past President of Garden Club who is moving to Georgia.  It was a lovely event rounding off a very successful year for Garden Club of Celebration.

2016-03-16 Talk on Begonias, Merle Deland

Merle Deland, President of the Tampa Bay Begonia Society gave a fascinating talk on this interesting group of plants. He brought lots of different varieties to illustrate his talk and gave an informative handout on their care. From small pink and red small flowered annuals used as bedding around town to the large leaved Begonia rex, they seemed easy to grow and care for. Merle showed us how to propagate plants from leaves and stems. Members were able to purchase lovely plants at the end of the meeting.

2015-12-09 Holiday Luncheon

Over seventy Garden Club members enjoyed a wonderful lunch organized by Judith and her team. Ten ladies baked an assortment of pies and guests had to guess who had baked each pie, using the clues and the photos displayed. Winners of the competition were awarded jewel- encrusted pastry slices!! The centrepieces on each table were colored metal birdcages filled with leaves and cardinals. Francesca and David Wellard provided crackers for every guest and taught us the English way of pulling the crackers. Everyone wore the paper hats.  Lunch was served, followed by a wide selection of pie and finally a Christmas quiz with prizes.  It was a fantastic event – many thanks to Judith Rankine  for her wonderful imaginative and …

2015-4-29 When life deals you Lemons

Spring Luncheon Judith Rankine created a wonderful luncheon for everyone at the Melia Hotel. The theme was ‘When life deals you lemons’ , floral decorations and favors were created with lemons and everyone drank lemonade and wore yellow.  At the luncheon our Community Advocate Lyn Berelsman presented our scholarship winner Mayuko  Mitzutani  to the Club. She attended the event with her father. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful luncheon – thank you Judith!

October 2014 Garden Club Guest Speaker – Heather Will-Browne

The Garden Club of Celebration was honored to welcome guest speaker Heather Will-Browne, Area Manager for Walt Disney World Horticulture. Heather shared a “backstage” peak at how Walt Disney Horticulture grows, maintains, and amazes guests with wonderful horticulture displays throughout the property. Members enjoyed socializing with Heather after her presentation. The refreshments committee did an excellent job as always with sweet treats to enjoy!
