Fundraising

The Club received an application from Cheryl Cassano, Assistant Principal at Celebration K-8 school for funds to enable the school to purchase a Tower Garden, the full text of the application is available in the members section of the website. Funds were allocated for school projects earlier in the year and this project  exactly fitted the bill.  Tricia, Francesca and Dave met Mrs Cassano, Assistant Principal, Laure Dejeant and Mr Fiorito  at the school and presented them with a check for $1385.95. This covers the cost of the purchase of the Tower Garden and all the items necessary to  use it. It is hoped that Garden Club can be involved with further projects that the school has planned.

The Club promoted the sale of pine straw at the Town Expo. Residents were able to purchase any quantity of pine straw to be delivered to their door. Garden Club members volunteered to man the table during the morning. Unfortunately the rain started about 11.30am and rather dampened the event

Several GC members manned a booth at Food Truck Friday, we sold Holiday Home Tour tickets and gave away free coffee. It was very well received and we certainly created an interest in the Home Tour. The booth looked great, decorated with fairy lights and a tree. Thank you to everyone who took part!

Fifteen members ran the booth at the town Expo at the rear of Town Hall. The booth was decorated with pine straw and an assortment of plants for sale. Many residents placed orders for pine straw and purchased plants. Proceeds of the sale were for the benefit of our scholarship fund, Give Kids The World and our civic beautification projects.

FASHIONS IN BLOOM Feb 3rd Garden Club’s first fashion show took place in Town Hall at 4pm on Tuesday February 3rd.   The organizing team of Debi Jackson, Judith Rankine, Pam Smith, Eileen Ruth and Tricia Alesbury worked hard to create a classy, professional event. Red roses were the theme and wonderful vases of flowers decorated the venue. Fashions were provided by Janet Carr of Sarasota and she and her team brought a wide selection of clothing for us all to model and purchase. The highlight of the evening was the runway show featuring Eileen Ruth, Beverley Gale, Tricia Alesbury, Sylvia Cocks and Earlyn Davidson as models.  Everyone enjoyed the wine, refreshments and the wonderful selection of raffle and silent auction …
