28th September – GKTW walkabout

During the summer the butterfly garden at Give Kids the World has been cared for by a small group of Garden Club members co-ordinated by Fred and Leslie Bartok. Keeping the garden watered has been on-going as the irrigation system has been compromised during the on-going construction. Annuals that we planted in the spring have struggled during the hot summer and we needed to plan to re-plant with lants that can tolerate the heat and not require too much water. Lorna, Jill, Leslie and Tricia visited the garden and discussed plants that could be added to replace the annuals and hopefully still add colour. Some plants have done very well during the summer, others have not. A wish list was created and we will work towards obtaining some of these plants
